If you're looking for a goodreads replacement that isn't owned by amazon, and maybe instead run & founded by a Black woman, then Nadia Odunayo has a treat for you! Her new platform The StoryGraph is still in beta but it already seems fully featured, looks & feels great–it has a really clean clear look, filters, half-star rating options, the works! Check it out! beta.thestorygraph.com/

imagine how many cool projects like StoryGraph might be federated if the newly expanded fediverse of 2016 hadn't collapsed into a seething mass of racism & self-obsessed boys-club dick-swinging within months

@paralithode Huh, usually the problem I have with things that want to replace goodreads is that there's hardly any content in them.

With StoryGraph, within 30 seconds of trying it, I've discovered a new (to me) short story¹ in one of my favorite fantasy universes - I'm already a fan!

@paralithode Thank you! I have been looking for such a thing, ever since I switched from Goodreads to Librarything only to learn that Amazon owns a significant stake in LT too. Looking forward to testing this out.

@paralithode thank you! I've definitely been on the look out for a Goodreads alt :)

@paralithode Wow, this looks rad. Do you know if it has a Librarian-type option? I know somebody who was super into that on Goodreads and that might convince 'em to switch over~

@grayishknight I don't know I'm afraid! since it's in beta still, the best thing to do might be to contact staff directly about features you'd like to see or aren't sure how to access.

@paralithode That's great, I was looking for something like this. However, before I sign up I would like to read the terms of service and/or the privacy policy, and I can't find the links to them anywhere on that website.

@deshipu I haven't found one either, I'm still looking around...it may be contacting them via the help form would be the best way to discover it, or encourage them to put one up if they haven't.

@paralithode Is it nonprofit and/or worker-owned? Is the software public? Is the data public? Love to see Black-led software projects, but a diverse face on surveillance capitalism doesn't really solve anything.
