Yeah, I get that white people have a hard time accepting the malicious intent of their friends and family when it comes to non-white people. That's a horrible reality.

However, I don't really have much sympathy for that even that reality is no where near as harsh as the lived reality and history of non-white peoples in the US.

No, it's not ignorance. No, I'm not going to meet you half way.

Too many people have died b/c of hate to worry about feelings.

If one is really authentic in their desire to help move America past it's brutally violent and racist identity, you've have to accept that there is no way white people come out as the 'good guys' in this story.

No, white people are not responsible for what happened int he past, but they are responsible for keeping the culture of racist hate alive and well in America.

There's just no way around that. If you want to help, you gotta face that reality.

What Native, Black and Brown folks have had to do to survive in a nation as toxic and violently hostile them is both miraculous and horrifying.

It is that reality we live with daily that we simply cannot escape. We have to be aware of this history so we how to navigate our society today.

Not even acknowledging that history is a luxury that only white people have in the States.

That level of denial is literally fatal for every other social group.

I absolutely want us to work together so we can push our nation forward into a more progressive and inclusive future.

However, what I am not willing to do is give a pass the systemic centuries spanning malignant behavior of white America based on merely ignorance.

That isn't what has and is happening. Ignorant people didn't elect our current dumpster fire of a POTUS.

You must accept that racism is continuing b/c white people want it to.

It's not magic.

@Are0h @chendricks shared an apology from the head of her uni to Indigenous people (who were there for 1000 years before) - and he says quite well why white people/colonisers NEED to apologise (even if they didn't *personally* do it). @lauraritchie I think this a great start, but the real work comes in from restoring and alleviating the damage that has been caused.

No, there is no way to make up for genocide and generations of racist violence, but it would go a long way to try to relieve the hardships that POC still endure because of these biases.

That's the part I'm waiting for. When America starts putting in effort to try and heal those wounds and reduce the damage caused.

@valdecast If you read, then you’d have seen we are in agreement so I’m not sure what your point is here.

I don’t think it’s ‘obscure’ at all. Some people just like to pretend it is.
