Always be open to lending a helping hand, but never take on someone else's anxieties or fears as your own. That does not help the person in need and it's not fair to you.
A big part of self care is setting your boundaries and knowing how much you can give and take. Be honest about them and be consistent in maintaining them until you feel you're ready to expand them.
You're a person too. You get to decide what you will and won't allow in your space.
