The dancing white guys do to avoid the objective point that they get preferential treatment at the cost of everyone else will never not be funny to me.
It just is what it is, yo. Trying to debate the reality of it is why people don't like talking you.
Yo, we _need_ diversity. It's that simple. We cannot keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect thing to change.
We need women, LGBTI, Black, Brown, Native folks in the game because we need their ideas to push the community and culture forward. We need to make our spaces _more_ appealing to them because we need them. We need their insight, knowledge and experience to find solutions that elude dominant culture.
Diversity isn't a bullet point. It's literally life.
@paco Yeah, I'm the same way. I have no issue with people who have it worse than me getting opportunities to show their worth.
I'll be fine. We'll all be fine because it raises the tide for everyone.
*makes mental note to respond to this tomorrow*
@NattyGov AYE! You're still here!
Aye aye. 😄
Have been struggling with diversity/inclusivity from an advertising POV. Mostly I feel the industry has only started recognizing this because it’s trendy/cool. And obvs. It’s upsetting.
Shall pick up tomorrow. Taken meds & completely incoherent right now.
@NattyGov Totally understand. I'm here when you're ready.
@sathariel LOL! Is this your contribution to the conversation?
@sathariel If you weren't a sexist or a racist, then you wouldn't feel the need to dismiss someone's identity to get them to fit whatever point you are trying to make.
And no one said anything about the color of someone's skin.
@dtluna @sathariel Still no mention of the color of someone's skin so... thanks for proving my point?
@dtluna @sathariel LOL, that's the question you should have asked before you came into my timeline acting like an ass.
@dtluna LOL, the irony here is that you're segregating my comments to make a point about how you don't like segregation.
That's hilarious.
@dtluna Ha, what you're doing, random person. What you're doing.
@dtluna You are already are defining it.
Just keep doing what you're doing.
@dtluna That's ironic coming from a person that takes my comments out of context to push a very particular point of view.
LOL, but yeah saying we should make our space more inviting for a wider swath of people is a "collectivist propaganda campaign".
Yeah. That makes total sense.
@dtluna Ha, nope. YOUR focusing on skin color, sexuality and place of origin to push whatever non-sense your pushing.
The context of why I'm saying what I'm saying is very clear.
You just want to be obtuse because it doesn't fit your myopic perspective about culture and your particular sensibilities concerning the subject.
It is neither original or interesting.
@dtluna Ha, you're equivocating. That's not the point that was made. You're literally grand standing concerning a point you made up and are so committed to that point, you can't see any other way.
There's a word for that.
@dtluna LOL, calm down bro.
And no, saying white privilege exists is not racist. It's just an objective statement.
But you seem to have a problem with objectivity. Unsurprisingly.
@dtluna LOL, to you, it probably is.
@sathariel @dtluna What I said is very clear.
You're just being obtuse. I can't help you not be that.
@sathariel @dtluna Well people can be both.
It's possible to be Black, Brown, LGBTQI AND have good ideas.
There is no need to erase someone's identity for the sake of good ideas.
Well, if you're not a bigot.
@sathariel @dtluna As there is such a thing as marginalized communities, yes, there is a need to acknowledge these people exist and we here them.
Ha, people do not exist outside of society and culture.
@dtluna LOL, as men, heterosexuals and white people are not being murdered for being men, heterosexuals and white, you're statement is not only complete fiction to the point of comedy, but delusional.
Cosmetic adjustments to sentences does not erase structural inequalities because you want it to.
Reality is what it is, sport.
@Are0h
But with all this diversity, we'll need unity, if we want to march into our best future.
@ZisIsMe Of course. However as my timeline is showing, there are people that are opposed to both.
@Are0h I’m with you. I’m straight white male. I tried to land a spot on a board of directors recently. Board didn’t nominate me. I looked at the slate of people the current board DID nominate and saw women of colour, men of colour, and lots of people not like me. Awesome. That is cool by me. Their time has come.
